Wharfe Bank Black Geld
Real Ale Review Ratings
Summary:
3.5
Commercial description: Black Geld by Wharfe Bank Brewery is a Black IPA, some say an India Black Ale, where dark roasted flavours meet unexpected hop flavours in ‘something really very special’.
Black Geld pours a hazy chestnut brown with a foam tan head and aroma of roast malt & light hop.
Medium bodied, medium carbonation, dry bitter finish. A rather nice but not ‘really very special’ Black IPA. However a new classification for me and something different to a stout or porter.
Aroma: light tropical fruit, earthy hop, toasty, light grapefruit, hint of pine.
Taste: Fruity (possibly bitter orange and a squidge of grapefruit) roast malt, coffee, caramel with some underlying tangy hoppy bitterness.
Strength: 6.5% ABV
Brewery: Wharfe Bank
