Commercial description: Adnams Broadside commemorates the fierce battle of Sole Bay fought against the Dutch Republic in 1672 off the Southwold coast. Brewed with Pale Ale and Chocolate malt and First Gold hops, Broadside is a dark ruby red beer rich in fruitcake aromas, almonds and conserved fruit.

I am a little biased with Adnams Ales. My Father-in-law’s family ran an Adnams pub in the 70s and 80s and there is nearly always a good collection of these bottled Ales in his cupboard.
Adnams Broadside pours a dark amber colour with a small, bubbly tan head. Aromas. Balanced flavours, quite sweet, with a hint of caramel and a strong light chocolate finish. Great smooth mouth feel, a good traditional ale.

Aroma: Hay,nuts,leafy, fruitcake.

Taste: Chocolatey notes.

Strength: 4.7% ABV.

Brewery: Adnams, Southwold
